Over the more than 50 years since then, they've built an entire restaurant around the original pit, adding indoor lighting, running water, and all of the other amenities necessary to a functional restaurant. Roberts' family roots are in South Carolina, Georgia, and Mississippi, but, according to Roberts, their Southern recipes have been "Texafied" over time.
Even though this place is huge and there are lots of tourists, I still recommend a visit. I enjoyed it, Visited here with the family on a weekday afternoon. Service was great and the food was magnificent. We had ribs and brisket - the brisket was truly amazing!
